And I haven't got a dog in the hunt since I'm old, slow and still tweaking carbs for my jollys. But there is a minute possibility that Jeremy Burgess was finally overcome by what is necessary to parse the modern MotoGP machine into parc ferme.

Rossi's chronological advancement notwithstanding, Burgess is no less susceptible to the same loss of the razor's edge over time. Jeremy though seems to be a tad more secure in his accomplishments. I've heard no scapegoats bellowing from his direction. He may actually have faltered in a way only he and Rossi can really know...

In a way I hope Rossi, as graciously as he could considering the nature of the task, let Burgess out to pasture with his record and their championships together to help console him. Speaking from the far side of 40, the creeping thoughts of blaming anything but ourselves for the letdown that is whats left of our waning capabilities as riders is a hard pill to not swallow. Especially if it relieves the symptoms of waning confidence.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03549892448881430411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-366230834353702090.post-14893126939074481702013-11-13T09:29:26.491-08:002013-11-13T09:29:26.491-08:00Riders ride, if it works in his mind then it's...Riders ride, if it works in his mind then it's the right move. I think the beginning of the downfall of Rossi, and possibly what cost Lorenzo the title was the outward praise of Marquez. They paid him a lot of tribute and in doing so strengthened their opponent and weakened themselves. Rossi did this with Lorenzo when he returned to Yamaha, the ruthlessness is gone.W Connorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03637840480529650094noreply@blogger.com
